About the Journal
Aims & Scope
The Journal of Universal Novel Knowledge (JUNK) is a rigorously peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing original research across every conceivable discipline. JUNK welcomes contributions from all fields including, but not limited to, the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, arts, philosophy, culinary arts, interpretive dance theory, and any discipline that has not yet been invented. Our editorial policy is guided by the principle that no area of human knowledge is too obscure, too ambitious, or too interdisciplinary for consideration. We particularly encourage submissions that transcend traditional academic boundaries, ideally all of them at once.
Founded in 2026, JUNK emerged from the recognition that the boundaries between academic disciplines are, at best, suggestions, and at worst, obstacles to the free flow of ideas. Our founding principle is simple: if it can be studied, it can be published — and even if it cannot be studied, we are willing to entertain the attempt.
JUNK operates under a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of their intellectual merit, methodological soundness, and contribution to the sum total of human knowledge (however marginal or eccentric that contribution may be). We do not discriminate on the basis of discipline, subdiscipline, or the complete absence of a recognisable discipline.
Open Access Policy
JUNK is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are immediately and freely available to anyone, anywhere, with an internet connection and a sufficient appetite for knowledge. We believe that knowledge should be free — and given the breadth of our scope, there is quite a lot of it to go around.
All content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. We trust you will cite responsibly.
Publication Ethics
JUNK is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics. We adhere to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expect all authors, reviewers, and editors to conduct themselves with integrity.
Plagiarism, data fabrication, and duplicate submission are strictly prohibited. However, we do acknowledge that in a journal covering all of human knowledge, the occasional overlap between fields is not only inevitable but philosophically interesting.
Indexing & Abstracting
JUNK is committed to seeking indexing in all major academic databases. Given our universal scope, we anticipate being relevant to every index currently in existence. We are currently in the process of applying to databases that can accommodate a journal of such unprecedented breadth.
